MY heart bleeds for Charlotte (Hereford Times, May 10), who cannot find a place to park outside the front gate of the college she attends in Hereford.
There is a simple answer. Yarpole is five miles from Leominster. She could park at Leominster station and take the train to Hereford then walk to her college. There are trains from/to Leominster from Hereford all day and the journey takes 18 minutes, a deal faster than it would take her to negotiate Hereford's appalling traffic.
In this way Charlotte would be doing her bit for the environment and doing herself a power of good with useful exercise.
She has one valid point. Public transport out in the sticks is abysmal largely because, for decades, we have been stuck with Tory dominated county councils and Tory councillors are not much interested in good public services such as housing and transport because they don't use them.
