I CANNOT understand why Herefordshire Council has not adopted a temporary traffic signal policy in the city centre in certain areas.
Being a Hereford resident, and using Hereford roads frequently between the hours of 9pm and 6am, it is so frustrating to have to stop at a red signal when there is no or little other traffic on the roads. Sometimes they are green until approaching, then turn red for no apparent reason. As an example: there is no reason why the lights at the roundabout at Steels/Tesco and the new roundabout at Asda cannot be switched off at 10.30pm and become a usual give way' roundabout until 6.30am.
There is a lot of hype regarding vehicle emissions and this is a cost effective way to reduce them. Let's do it. Other cities have successfully.
