THE most important thing in woodland management is to end up with a wood or forest whichever the case may be.
To do this, one must have birds to eat the grubs in the canopy where they stay most of the time until they have to come down for water and grit, as they do every day.
They do not like dense undergrowth and blue tits, great tits, coal tits and warblers do not travel far at nesting time.
So please keep chipping clean and smart.
