WALKING along the countryside's narrow lanes is becoming more difficult now with the hedgerows being encouraged to grow wild.
The grass verge has almost disappeared in some places, making walking on foot almost impossible. Cars have to squeeze past you.
Last year the roadside ditches overflowed from the heavy rain we had last autumn; trees have started to show their leaves early and branches have fallen from trees. This could make our road conditions very slippery.
I think the time has come to clean out our roadside ditches, suck out the overflowing water, and trim overhanging branches on the trees, simple maintenance before winter sets in, better safe than sorry.
