THE whole of Herefordshire must rise up and stop the wind ‘farm’ development at Reeves Hill. The beautiful countryside in that area and for miles around would be wrecked at a stroke by such vandalism. This is an emergency.
If Herefordshire Council is weak enough to allow this plan to go ahead a precedent will have been set to permit the despoilment of the rest of our county. The purpose of this and all wind generation schemes is for businesspeople living far away to make a quick return on their investment by virtue of massive public subsidies which are falsely backed by notions of perverted science. The claim this power station ‘will produce enough renewable energy to power between 5,144 and 7,326 homes’ is a lie. It would produce electricity for much less than 30% of the time and the amount quoted for this number of dwellings is equivalent to about one and a half bars of an electric fire, quite insufficient for general use, and then probably for less than 120 days a year. Readers of the Times, people of Herefordshire, lobby your councillor now; besiege your MP; save our countryside!
