MAY I, through your paper, extend my personal thanks to the many people and show members who have contacted me and offered their support after the very sad decision to cancel this year’s Kington Show.
Everything was in place for this year’s show to be the biggest and best Kington had ever seen but, although on show-day itself the weather was fine and dry, the damage had already been caused by the days of rain we had beforehand. Even on Friday night as I walked the showground there were still many areas of standing water.
I would like to take this opportunity and thank all the trade stands and caterers who, when contacted about the cancellation, asked for their money to be “rolled over” to next year’s show because, as they said: “Kington Show is the best one day show in the area”
To the exhibitors, I thank you for being so understanding: I know that a lot of time and effort had gone into the preparation of stock or produce but I look forward to seeing you next year.
On that note please put Saturday, September 12, 2009, in your diaries now. I will look forward to meeting you at next year’s show on a dry sunny day!
DICK ALLFORD, Kington Show Chairman, Titley, Kington.
