IN the letters about Hereford parking, one of your correspondents describes the parking attendant lurking to beat him to the car in order to book him.
Could I redress the balance a little? I received nothing but kindness recently from a lady attendant in Gaol Street car park when I had lost the only car key I possess. She gave me soothing and helpful advice, and not only promised not to book me while I retraced my steps, even if it took the rest of the day, but also promised to inform the attendant on the next day’s shift, so he would not book me either if it took that long to get a replacement.
Reunited with my key at the police station (enormous thanks also to the kind person who had found it and handed it in there), I looked for the lady attendant to thank her. I could not find her, but have often sung her praises since.
As for paying on entry or exit, I really don’t mind which way is chosen, as long as the OAP concession, which is worth its weight in gold, remains exactly as it is.
