LAST week, two experiences made me appreciate the quality of life possible in Herefordshire personally and professionally.
I attended the locality team workshop discussing how reorganisation of children’s services could ensure there is ‘no wrong door’ for referrals. I was most impressed by the dedication of our professionals and the respect for each other and their clients.
Most of all, the spirit of this consultation welcomed questions and acknowledged difficulties. I certainly felt, heard and believe that we have people who will face the demanding situation together and the way forward will be understood.
A few days later, I left my handbag under a seat in Eywas Harold. A dear lady had taken it to the post office and her joy in reuniting me with it has left a glow which I want to share. There is no satisfaction to beat the awareness that people are doing their best for others. I will treasure the handbag not just for the significance of the gift it was but as testimony to the goodness of people, the most important resource we have.
