ON Thursday, April 2, I collapsed while awaiting a bus at the city bus station.
When I regained consciousness, a young woman who was bending over me had already called an ambulance and she remained with me until I was taken on board. She told me that she had no medical training but she did all the ‘right’ things and I am more than grateful to her.
Later at A&E, a nurse came to tell me that the woman who had been so helpful had telephoned for information about my condition. I felt (and feel) very moved by her caring attitude and would like the opportunity to thank her personally.
I should add that the cause of my collapse was a hypotensive episode, due at least in part to the medication that I have to take, not something I’ve ever experienced before. You know, it’s almost worth suffering a mishap in order to encounter such a kind and caring person.
