I WAS really shocked and angry to read the views of a woman from Leominster.

She made an assumption that the man who spoke to her had mental health problems because of his behaviour and appearance and so should be kept off the streets.

People who suffer from mental health problems, I believe at least one in every six of the population, are victims of not only poor health but stigmatisation and prejudice.

I suppose this woman would prefer people who exhibit 'odd' behaviour to be locked away in an institution for life.

I just hope for her own child's sake that it is 'normal' and not offensive to its mother's sensibilities. Perhaps if she had spoken briefly to the man and gone back to work he may have calmed down. What I feel is sad about is that she made no attempt to help him or get him help. Her behaviour is a prime example of "Where is care in the community?"
