I HOPE I speak for your readers when I say that we realise and relish the fact that we live in a beautiful rural part of England.

Living in a rural area necessarily implies that we experience rural traffic whenever we go outside the urban areas and this is, normally, part of our lives.

In particular, this harvest time of year is when the agricultural traffic is at its heaviest, especially during the next few weeks when apples are on their way for cider-processing.

All this is a happy addition to the autumn scene but I am asking the tractor and other agricultural drivers to bear in mind that there are other drivers behind them not necessarily wishing to travel for long distances at 15-20mph. The answer is simple: please, use your mirrors and, every so often, pull in with a cheerful wave to invite normal' traffic to get on its way.

This results in easing the frustration and reduces the possibility of consequential accidents.

Indeed, not to do so, can lead to the road traffic offence of driving without reasonable consideration for other drivers and such prosecutions have been brought in the Hereford courts.

A little thought avoids all these problems, so please, tractor and other drivers, use your mirror and make us all happy - and good luck with harvest.
