Hereford Lads Club 2 Ledbury Town 5
LEDBURY Town stormed into second spot in the West Midlands League Division Two after a clinical derby triumph in Hereford this afternoon (Saturday).
Town had the three points sewn up in the opening 45 minutes after romping into an unassailable 4-0 advantage at a sun-kissed County Ground.
The defeat leaves Lads Club fourth in the table – six points behind Ledbury but with three games in hand over their promotion rivals.
Sam Dixon put Ledbury ahead before the visitors took a firm grip on the match with a three-goal blitz in nine minutes.
Neil Gardiner’s superb 30-yard strike put Ledbury 2-0 in front and then a fine lob from Jamie Welch gave the visitors a 3-0 cushion.
It got even better for Ledbury when Dan Herbert drove in their fourth goal after Danny Hill’s spill in the 37th minute.
Lads Club player-manager Danny Moon reduced the deficit from the penalty spot in the 55th minute after a foul on Josh Pugh but Welch soon restored Ledbury’s four-goal cushion.
Moon bagged Lads Club’s second goal, heading home at the back-post with 20 minutes remaining, but the home side were well beaten by the final whistle.
