Leominster Town 3 Stone Old Alleynians 3
IF matches lasted 70 minutes, Leominster would be fighting for a West Midlands League Division One top-five finish this season.
But Town’s 20-minute curse struck again.
On paper, a point from seventhplaced Stone is not a bad result.
Town, though, were 3-1 up with 15 minutes to go and should have taken all three.
The score leaves Town’s final placing from a disappointing season in the hands of others.
Results at least went the way of the Briarwood Boys on Saturday so they stay 13th.
Two more goals for Terry Williams put Town’s super-striker among the division’s top scorers and a third from Ben Price seemed to have sealed a deserved victory for Town.
As so often this season, all the good work was undone as the clock ran down from the 70-minute mark.
Not even a switch to 4-5-1 for the final quarter could lock the game down.
Young Hugo Benson was Town’s man-of-the-match, carrying an injury for much of the game yet still willing to put his foot on or through the ball as required.
The equally-promising Tom Watkins pressed his claims for a regular squad-place with a mature firsthalf showing.
