CHAIRMAN Andy Kibble thinks Tom Boyle’s ‘magic feet’ can lead Ledbury Town to a fifth Herefordshire FA County Challenge Cup triumph.

Kibble says Tom’s brother, Pete, will also have a major role against Westfields, the holders, in next Wednesday’s final at Edgar Street (7.30pm kick-off).

In-form Westfields play three tiers above Ledbury and are unbeaten in their last 17 matches.

But Kibble said: “We are also flying at the moment and all we want to do is win the cup - that would be the icing on the cake for us.

“Pete Boyle’s defence is solid and he controls the back of the park and Tom is an out and out striker and is magic with his feet.

“They are the two people we will be looking at to give the platform we need to win against Westfields.

“The Ledbury lads are up for it, it’s a big occasion for the club and we have three coaches laid on for our fans.”

The Boyle brothers, Scott Roberts and Ian Merrick are the only players remaining from Ledbury’s side which beat Westfields 3-0 in the final three years ago.

Midland Alliance outfit Westfields have lifted the county cup a record 11 times and thrashed Ledbury 4-0 in the semi-finals in 2009 after a brace from Mark Davis and first-half goals from Danny Hill and Mark Hibbard.

The city side are favourites to retain the trophy and seal a money-spinning pre-season home HFA Senior Cup final with Hereford United.

Craig Jones will be playing for Westfields tonight (Thursday) in their home game against Bridgnorth Town.

Jones has joined Martin Foyle’s United until the end of the season.

And Westfields boss Sean Edwards doesn’t think his nephew will be available for the cup final because United have a match against Mansfield Town next Tuesday.

Edwards added: “We know quite a bit about Ledbury Town - we have watched them a few times.

“They score a lot of goals and are winning a lot of matches.

“Their confidence will be high and they will be a threat going forward.

“They have a good pedigree and we must match their enthusiasm and commitment.

Ledbury should be fresh and up for it and we know it’s going to be a tough game.”

Westfields recorded a 2-1 win at Rocester on Tuesday night and travel to Bridgnorth Town on Saturday before visiting Continental Star next Monday.

Edwards said: “We are playing a lot of matches and, hopefully, we won’t have too many injuries to worry about.

“Scott Jackson had to come off at halftime against Rocester because of a hamstring injury.”

Ledbury are second in West Midlands League Division Two and Kibble is confident his club can spring an upset.

“Westfields have been an Achilles heel for us but this time it will be different,”

said Kibble.

“Winning is the most important thing for us and being able to celebrate in style.”
