IT was a disappointing afternoon for Herefordshire’s leading rugby sides with only one of the six avoiding defeat.
 

Luctonians suffered a rare defeat at Mortimer Park when they lost 14-12 at home to Dudley Kngswinford in National Two North.
 

In Midlands One West, Old Halesonians beat Hereford 29-0 while, in Midlands Three West (South), Ledbury lost 22-10 at Pershore but have the consolation of remaining outside the divisional drop zone.
 

Bromyard lost 34-10 at Harborne in Midlands Four West (North) while, in Gloucester 2, Bream beat Ross-on-Wye 31-10.
 

The only marginally bright spot was in Gloucester Five West (South) where Greyhound maintained their unbeaten status but lost their perfect record in a 3-3 draw at leaders Stoke Old Boys.
 

Westfields’ extraordinary run in the Midlands Alliance goes on with a Phil Glover goal earning a 1-0 win at Bridgnorth and completing a three-day double. Fields are now up to third in the table.
 

In the Premier Division of the West Midlands League, Bromyard were beaten 4-1 at home by Shifnal Town while Wellington handed struggling Darlaston Town their fourth win of the season with a 1-0 success.
 

Chris Mortlock and Cory Hyde were on target as Pegasus picked up a point from a 2-2 home draw with Wolverhampton Casuals.
 

In Division One, Leominster were beaten 5-2 at Shenstone Pathfinders.
While in Division Two, there was a Herefordshire clean sweep.
 

Ledbury won 4-2 at Malvern Rangers, Bartestree won 2-0 at Wolverhampton Sporting Community Reserves and Lads Club beat Newport Town 2-1 to retain second, third and fourth places respectively in the table.
 

The start of the county’s cricket season predictably brought rain.
Brockhampton’s Birmingham League Williamson Trophy clash was abandoned after Kidderminster Victoria had made 230-9.
