Westfields 2 Tividale 0.
WESTFIELDS boosted their chances of runners-up spot in the Midland Alliance with a hard-fought success against a strong Tividale side.
Fields took the lead on 24 minutes when Richard Kear ran on to a pass from Richard Kear to shoot home from an acute angle.
Jamie Cuss went close before Phil Glover extended the lead on 42 minutes, heading in a Danny Shappell cross after Carl Morgan’s corner was only partially cleared.
Thomas and Cuss went close to a third for Westfields but Glover also showed his defensive capabilities, with fine headed clearances from dangerous crosses.
Westfields Reserves added further silverware to the club’s trophy cabinet with a 4-0 win over Hinton in the HFA Charity Bowl at Wellington.
John Ferneyhough opened the scoring before the break with teenagers Ellis Davey and Ben Thomas adding further goals before the hour-mark.
Terry Green added the fourth to enable skipper Rory Hollingshead to accept the trophy from HFA chairman Bill Shorten.
