LEOMINSTER Minors Under-9s found travelling off the mainland to be no handicap as they returned from the Isle of Wight with a trophy.
The north Herefordshire club beat of the challenge of teams from Norwich, Sussex, Essex and Hampshire to win the Isle of Wight Tournament.
To get to the final the Minors won six games, scoring 23 goals and conceding only three to secure top place in their league.
The final was decided by penalties.
Kai Barnett, Tom Griffiths, Cameron Stuart and Harrison Summers each converted while Aaron Warren saved two penalty kicks to win the silverware.
Minors’ under-10s also ended the tournament unbeaten.
They missed out on the cup final by just a single point and went down by the only goal in front of a big crowd in the third-place plate match. Their team was Callum Pritchard, Josh Briggs, Alfie O’Rourke, Elliott Pugh, Alfonso Fontora, Will Lane and Jay Oliver.
