THREE more wins in five days have extended Westfields’ unbeaten run to 26 matches and given the city side an outstanding chance of runners-up spot in the Midland Alliance.
Last Thursday, Fields inflicted a rare home reverse on champions Stratford Town with two goals in the last 15 minutes completing a 2-0 victory. Loyiso Recci turned a shot from Aidan Thomas into his own net on 75 minutes but Thomas needed no such assistance with the second, a superb strike into the corner of the net.
On Saturday, at Boldmere St Michael’s, Westfields completed a double over their hosts with a 4-0 success.
Player-of-the-year Jamie Cuss worked his way through the home defence to open the scoring in the 20th minute.
And Westfields extended their lead before the break when Joel Edwards and Marcus Giglio combined to set up Craig Jones for the goal of the game.
A fierce shot by Jones, from an Aidan Thomas pass, brought number three with Sam Gwynne rounding off the scoring after Cuss had been felled.
Westfields rounded off their home league programme on Monday with a 2-1 success against relegation candidates Highgate United.
Phil Glover gave the city side a fourth-minute lead when he headed in a Jones cross. Highate levelled the scores before Jones put Westfields back into the lead with a shot from the edge of the area.
Fields could even afford a missed penalty from Gwynne as they extended their incredible league run.
