SASCHA Kindred has been picked for the 32-strong British swimming team for August’s IPC World Swimming Championships in Montreal.

The Hereford swimmer shone in his main event, the 200-metre individual medley, clocking the fastest time in the world this season for his SM6 classification.

But Sascha’s wife, Nyree, has not been selected for Canada after failing to secure a qualification time at the British International Disability Championships in Sheffield.

Sascha, 35, a six-time Paralympic gold medallist, has been selected for his seventh World Championships.

“I’m going to keep pushing until my body tells me it can’t do any more,” said Sascha, who competes in the SM6 classification and clocked an impressive 2.45.11 in Sheffield.

“My body is asking me how long I can continue but while I’m still doing personal best times, there’s no reason to stop.”

Sascha comfortably swam under the qualifying time of 2.47.52. He took silver at London 2012 after finishing in a personal best time of 2.41.50.

Sascha has won 18 medals at the last six IPC World Championships, including nine golds and the title in Eindhoven three years ago.

“I’ve been going a while but I’m still improving,” said Kindred, who didn’t meet the qualification time in the 100m breaststroke.

Nyree needed to swim under 1.27.09 to qualify for the British team in the 100m S6 backstroke. She secured silver at London 2012 in 1.26.23 but clocked 1.29.15 in last weekend’s trial. Nyree did not make it through the heats in the 400m freestyle.
