WELLINGTON Rangers player-manager Nick Panniers admits it would be nice to ‘get one over’ on title rivals Ewyas Harold, writes TOM VALE.

Wellington are battling with Harold for the Herefordshire League Premier Division title.

“It’s always nice to get one over your old team,” said Panniers.

“I knew a long time ago it would come down to our two sides for the league but it would be nice to win it. I’ve still got a lot of friends at Harold and speak to everyone there.”

The player-manager has been assisted in his maiden season by the experienced Dave Priday.

“To have someone assist from the side has helped,” said Panniers.

“I think if you’re a playermanager you always need someone on the side to help you out from there.

“I’ll stay on as player-manager next season but Dave will be going up to manage the first team.

“I’m going to be looking for someone else to come in and help me out.”

Panniers played the previous two seasons at Harold but decided to return to Wellington for this campaign.

“I played at Wellington when I was a lad and all my friends are at the club,” he said.

“They persuaded me to come and get involved at the club again and I felt it was time for a change.”
