TEENAGE tennis ace Alex Parker has been put through his paces in a national talent day at Bolton Arena.

The John Kyrle High School pupil was among 27 youngsters from across the country invited to the Lawn Tennis Association (LTA) event.

The 14-year-old, who trains at Edgbaston Priory Club in Birmingham, showed off his skills in front of the LTA Talent ID team.

“I always enjoy going to Bolton – I like all the drills and the matchplay,” said Alex.

“It’s good for us to see where we are against other players our age and to learn what we need to do to improve our tennis.”

The LTA head of talent management, Andrew Lewandowski, oversaw the day.

“Alex has performed really well and shown lots of ability across a number of different tasks and has a natural talent and a love for the sport,” he said.

“We now have the systems in place to give players like Alex the best possible chance of reaching their potential. “I look forward to seeing him progress.”
