WHITECROSS marked their first season in the Gloucestershire Premier Division by winning the Gloucester Squash and Racketball Association’s knockout cup.

Tom Burton, Jack Bishop and Matt Lees were outstanding as the Hereford club triumphed 3-2 in the final against a Tewkesbury Park team, including the word ranked, Sam Davidson.

Burton and Lees both won their matches, while Bishop sealed a 3-1 success. Nick Palmer and Paul Frost lost their matches 3-0.

Whitecross finished seventh out of nine in the league despite being tipped as relegation candidates by some at the start of the season.

Rob Reid had outstanding campaign and carried off the player-of-the-season award after achieving a 100 per cent record in his games.

Jason Spink captained the Whitecross team who will be receiving the cup during the club’s annual general meeting at the Railway Club in June.
