HEREFORD rally driver Dan Evans achieved his best result yet with a class win in the Plains Rally.
Co-driven by Ludlow's Chris Ridge, the pair put the disappointment of the their first two rallies behind them with six tests on the classic Welsh stages in Dyfi and Hafren forests, with a stage through the Sweetlamb rally complex, finishing first in the 1,400 S class and second overall in the 1,400cc Championship class.
Evans and Ridge began well, running in the top three of the 1,400cc championship section during the morning.
Evans lost a little time through the midway point of rally, the conditions not really suitable for his tyres as he had anticipated the roads to be wet and muddy from the recent heavy rain whereas they were remarkably dry.
Despite this and an electrical failure, quickly rectified by the service crew, the pair continued to push really hard over the final stages to achieve an excellent result in only Evans’ third rally.
