LOCAL knowledge helped a host club team to victory when Leominster staged their Open Am-Am at the Ford Bridge course.
Leominster's Bob Holloway, Kevin Green, Paul Creasey and Joss Ingram accumulated 93 points to win by three from runners-up Cotswold Hills.
A good turnout of 152 competed in mixed weather of wind, rain and sunshine.

There was similar weather for the 148 competitors who took part in the Seniors Am-Am when some good scores were produced and a countback decided first place.

There was some high scoring in Herefordshire GC's mid-week stableford and a countback decided division one.

The Centenary Cup competition was hit by continuous rainfall and will be re-arranged for later in the year.
The A team suffered a 5-1 defeat at Ross-on-Wye.
Seniors' golf was overshadowed by news of the the death of Bill Bullock (reported last week), a staunch supporter of the section and their president in 2005-6.
Windy conditions kept down the scoring in the seniors' stableford.

Burghill amateur Mark Lewis and club PGA professional Keith Preece will compete in the regional final of the PGA National Pro-Am Championship at Frilford Heath, Oxfordshire, on June 25. Lewis won the club qualifier with a nett 66.
Ross-on-Wye A team made full use of home advantage to gain a resounding 5-1 victory over Herefordshire GC, but expect a closer match in the return later in the year.
Cradoc's annual Farmers Bowl medal competition, run in aid of Wales Air Ambulance, was won by Nicholas Morrell with 76-10-66 and Robert Evans, 91-23-68, was runner-up.
Cradoc Seniors continued their erratic friendly match form with a 6-1 defeat at Brecon.
Dates for the next round of the South Wales Seniors Classic have been re-arranged. The A team host Milford Haven in the cup on Monday and the B team are at home to Maesteg A in the bowl tomorrow (Friday).
Oliver Farr of Ludlow retained the Shropshire and Herefordshire Union Budass Trophy after again winning the Spring Trials meeting.
The Belmont course was in excellent condition but strong winds and hard ground after weeks of dry weather tested the players.
