FIVE members of Hereford Triathlon Club are taking on the ultimate challenge - the Ironman.
Police officer Colin Kerfoot, taxi-driver Ian Foster, postman Andy Taylor, journalist Nicola Goodwin and Mark Dykes, who serves in the armed forces, are all combining their day jobs with hours of gruelling training.
On June 24 they will join thousands of other athletes from across the world to swim 2.5 miles, cycle 110 miles and then run a marathon (26 miles) at the Quelle Challenge Roth Ironman race near Nuremburg in Germany.
The five have all competed in triathlon for many years but preparation for the Ironman has seen them increase their training time to more than 20 hours per week.
They are currently completing the toughest stage of their training plan, completing 100-mile cycle sessions on the weekend, plus regular 18 and 20-mile runs before work.
They will all be taking part in the half Ironman distance race at Bala Lake in North Wales on June 3 before travelling over to Germany the weekend before the race to get used to the temperature and race course.
They should be able to hear some familiar voices during the race though, as dozens of friends from Hereford Triathlon Club are travelling over to cheer them on.
