WORMELOW recorded their first win in Division 2 of the Crusader Worcestershire County League when they produced a rare victory over long-standing rivals Monmouth at Kennel Field.
In a rain-interrupted game, Monmouth looked favourites to win at tea-time after bowling the home side out for just 130.
But they then never fully recovered from losing their first five wickets for just 29 runs in 13 overs and were eventually all out for 96 to go down by 34 runs.
In contrast Ben Owens and John Prime gave Wormelow a solid start of 39 after winning the toss and and this in spite of an early rain interruption.
Skipper Chris Powell joined Owens and the pair took the score to 77 after 20 overs.
But the introduction of spin into the Monmouth attack changed the course of the innings. Mark Temple dismissed Owens for 40 and the rest of the Wormelow batting crumbled against Temple (4-30 off 16 overs) and Aled Jones (5-17), only Rob Gummer (15) and James Cutler (12) reaching double figures.
There was little hint of trouble as Temple (11) and Ian Morgan took the score to 19 off six overs, but then wickets tumbled.
Seamer Steve Wild (5-22) took four wickets in his next four overs, and, with Tim Boulter and Cutler backing him up with a wicket apiece, Monmouth were in deep trouble.
Gordon Grey (20 no) and Charlie Bye attempted to repair the damage, but once Bye (26) went to Cutler (4-31) the end was in sight. John Tooley took four catches in the slips.
Luctonians looked to be on their way to their second win of the season when they took the ninth Feckenham wicket at 151 with 22 runs required for victory and seven overs remaining.
The home team's last wicket pair nudged their way towards the target and had reduced the requirement to two runs by the final over. They reached their goal on the fourth ball of Ed Rollings final over to win by one wicket.
Earlier, Luctonians had been bowled out for 172 in the final over of their reduced 46-over innings.
After losing an early wicket, James Platford (25) and his father Duncan (22) pushed the score past 50 when Luctonians took first knock after winning the toss.
Dave Bottoms (18) and Paul Davies (17) supported Will Hicks who came in at number seven to make a top score of 31.
After N Reddish (28) and S Chin (28) had posted 56 for the first Feckenham wicket, the bowlers took over.
Davies (2-18) and Bottoms (2-56) quickly reduced the home side to 58-3, and Rollings (4-51 off 14.4 overs) kept the wickets tumbling at regular intervals, until the sting in the tail.
