Hereford 3 Wolverhampton 1 Pegasus Juniors FC provided a perfect venue for the West Midlands Schools' Under-12 Divisional Cup final and both teams did justice to the occasion by competing in an attractive, competitive match.
As early as the first minute Joe Tumelty (St Mary's) brought a great save from the Wolver-hampton goalkeeper.
Hereford continued to pile on the pressure and scored after five minutes. Rory Worthing (Kingstone) and Tom Murphy (Minster) had shocks blocked but Tom Parry (Kingstone) was on hand to give Hereford the lead.
Wolverhampton tried to get back in the game but Sam Archer-Plane (Minster) and Elliot Payne (St Mary's) defended superbly.
After Tumelty's shot rattled the post, Brad Williams (Whitecross) extended Hereford's lead just before half-time. Rory Worthing and Sam Crichard combined to provide Williams with a chance and he calmly slotted the ball past the goalkeeper.
As expected, Wolverhampton fought hard at the start of the second half and almost pulled a goal back when Walker shot narrowly over the bar.
Hereford still posed a threat with Langford (St Mary's) and Williams dominating midfield and Parry a constant threat to the visitors' defence.
Parry sealed the win, rifling home the rebound after Matt Rooke had brought another good save from the Wolverhampton goalkeeper.
Boucher pulled a goal back with an unstoppable shot but Hereford emerged as deserved winners.
Pegasus FC was formed in 1955 from a Hereford Schools team and it was fitting that present club chairman, Kevin Bishop, presented the mementoes to the match officials and both teams.
Elliot Payne received the trophy for Hereford.
