SOME of the country's top motocross experts will be heading for the stunning hillside track at St Harmon, near Rhayader, next Wednesday for the first round of the Welsh Open Motocross Championship.
Sponsored by PAR Homes and Bache's Bargains, the competition is once again sure to attract large crowds to the Cwmythig Hill circuit.
Among those scheduled to take part are the current British 4-stroke champion Brad Anderson as well as PAR Homes Honda team riders including South African Neville Bradshaw, Wayne Smith and top Welsh youngster Ashley Greedy.
Members of the Rhayader & District Motorcycle & Light Car Club have been busy improving the spectacular track which includes a downhill ski jump, wall of death berm and the 65ft finish-line table-top jump as well as a new whoop de whoo' section.
With competition beginning at 6.45pm, there will be an 11-race programme with three races per group - experts, seniors/juniors and novices/local beginners - as well as two grand final dash for cash' races at the end of the evening for the top 125/250cc and open experts on the night.
More than 5,000 spectators turned out for the first round last year and commentary will be provided for the racegoers by top motocross commentator Kenny Kay.
