PAUL Blevins finished a comfortable winner of the Cedric Clinkett Cup when Burghill Valley held their memorial competition in conjunction with captain's day.

The competition, which attracted a large entry, was a modified stableford where nett par equalled no points, a birdie three points and a bogey minus one.

Blevins carded an impressive 31 points, while Neil Crockett was second on 22 and Alun Mowe third on 21.

A countback was needed to decide the seniors' Five-Club Trophy with John Griffiths pipping Mac Park after both had recorded 34 points. Ken Thornton was third with 33.

Hereford Municipal club members started their annual quest for the NAPGC UK finals at St Andrews in September.

Alan Leake, best nett score, and Dave Wooles, best gross, in the medal made sure of being on their way with success at the regional finals at Thornbury.

And stableford winners James Marsh, Colin Morgan and Mike Steele are also assured of places.

Nic Storrer won a countback against Brennan Standell after both finished with nett 66s in Herefordshire GC's mid-week medal.

Herefordshire beat visiting Cadmore Lodge 3-2 in the Handicap League, while the B team won their home friendly 3-2 against Ross B.

Andy Thomson pipped Bill Cockman by one shot to win Kingstone High School Society's May medal at Brampton.

Many players took the opportunity to play first and second round knockout matches and Rob Jones, Gareth Williams, Rhodri Kendrick, Moray Mackintosh, Jake Ingram and and Mitchell Ingram have all made progress.

But Tom Jordan bowed out this time in exactly the same way as last year, fighting back from three down with three to play to force extra holes and then lose.

Kington seniors team whitewashed Summerhill 7-0 at home and then extended their winning run to six matches by beating visiting Ludlow 4-1.

The change in weather saw a drastic change in scores for the seniors' May medal.

Ross-on-Wye A team continued their good form with a 4-2 away win over Worcester G & CC, while the A team whitewashed visiting Monmouth 6-0. Ross seniors won 3- at Stinch-combe.

A countback was required to decide a three-way finish to Cradoc's Sherriff's Putter after the leading pairs all recorded nett 72s.

Darren Martin and Ian Evans, playing off 10, half the combined handicaps, won from Derek Osborne and Graham Harris, off 11, with Lyndon Walters and Ray Morgan third off 15.

Cradoc's Halletts team of 18-plus handicappers are still seeking their first win after losing 3-1 at home to Bryn Meadows and 3-1 away to Greenmeadow.

The seniors won 3-2 at home to Rolls of Monmouth and then lost 3-2 in another home match against Kington.

Dave Radbourne was the winner in a close finish to Luctonians Society's monthly meeting at Burghill Valley, played in difficult weather conditions.
