HEREFORDSHIRE'S Brandon Adams and Chad Warren dominated in the latest national badminton tournament to be held at Hereford Academy.

Warren beat Hugo Simmonds in the final of the under-15 event before teaming with Adams to win the doubles against Matt Bickerton and Chris Maneffa.

The Herefordshire pair looked in trouble during the early stages, but persevered to win an epic match.

In the mixed event, Adams and Warren clashed in the final.

Warren and Aime Whiteman, from Gwent, held a 20-15 lead and only needed a point to claim victory.

But Adams and Beth Hambling, from Worcester Performance Centre, had other ideas and, after an epic game, came through to win 24-22.

Adams' success came on the back of reaching the semi-finals of the under-17 silver tournament in Nottingham.

No Herefordshire girls featured in the latter stages of the competition in Hereford, meeting stiff opposition.

The ladies doubles was won by Isabel Pike and Jess Rodgers in a closely fought match against Sian Evans and Amy Oakley.

And in the singles, number one seed Eve Chilcott was beaten by Rogers in another close final.

Herefordshire Badminton Academy Head Coach, Les Butts said: "The standard of our players is improving all the time and I am always impressed by them when they compete.

"Our partnership with Worcester Performance Centre is really paying off."
