HEREFORD Rowing Club members excelled themselves at their home regatta on Bank Holiday Monday by carrying off 11 titles.
The cool conditions and strong breeze did not appear to handicap the home competitors who powered to victories across the age ranges.
The women's senior 3 eight of Jo Cross, Emma Poole, Veronica Preedy, Zoe Jones, Nicky Marriott, Debbie Probert, Juliet Simpson, Lucy Head and cox Robin Morris enjoyed a win against local rivals Worcester while the junior 15 coxed quad of Jordan Lloyd, Tomos Jones, Ed Deutsch, Tom Fenton and cox Caitlin Bissell were successful against Hereford Cathedral School.
The city club also enjoyed success against Cathedral competitors in the women's junior 16 double sculls, through Steph Bissell and Katie Llewellyn, in the junior 16 coxless quad, through Ed Deutsch, Nathan Collins, Alex Campbell and Sean Blake, and in the junior 18 double sculls, through Jamie Coombes and Alex Deutsch.
For Coombes and Alex Deutsch, it was a second success of the day as a pair as they also carried off the senior 2 double sculls with a win against the City of Oxford.
Alex Deutsch completed a highly successful day with a win in the junior 18 single sculls, beating club and boat-mate Coombes in the final.
Deutsch's brother Ed also enjoyed success in a singles event, carrying off the junior 15 single sculls with a win against Dan Hart, also of Hereford, in the final.
If the Deutsch family enjoyed an excellent day, then the Llewellins also had a selection of additions to their trophy cabinet.
In addition to Katie's success in the women's junior 16 double sculls, brother Ed teamed up with Ollie Butler to gain a success in the junior 14 double sculls with a win against Upton.
Butler spoiled the chances of a family treble, however, when he defeated Harry Llewellin in the junior 14 single sculls.
In amongst the wealth of success achieved by the Hereford's younger rowers, the more experienced members also had a chance to shine and the veteran D coxless pair of Mark Beddoes and Mick Massam saw off Gloucester to take the trophy.
Overall, the crowds who braved the weather to come down to enjoy the competition saw a very high standard of racing from participants who came from far and wide to join in the day.
