THE weekend's cold and wet weather did nothing to help Herefordshire sides' prospects of carrying off the Crusader Worcestershire League Division 1 title.

Only one of the five games scheduled to involve county sides over the two-day Bank Holiday programme was able to reach a conclusion and that match brought a defeat for Eastnor at Worcester.

Brockhampton continue to lead the way in the table despite having their home match against Bromyard curtailed midway through by the weather which prevented them even making a start at Chaddesley Corbett on Monday.

After winning the toss against Bromyard, Brock-hampton were in a strong position when play was washed out.

The visitors had slipped to 33-6 in the face of a fine opening spell by Richard Parker and Chris Boroughs.

Edd Oliver (13) was able to instigate a partial recovery which was built upon by Dean Corbett (14 not out) and James Hine (13).

But Parker (6-44) and Boroughs (4-29) returned to wrap up the final wickets and dismiss Bromyard for 102. The home side's reply was unable to start because of the rain.

It was a half a match again for Bromyard on Monday who batted first at home to Worcester Nomads and reached 200-7 from their 50 overs before the rain washed out any prospect of the visitors replying.

Ash Bullock (29) and Oliver Bailey (23) gave the home side a promising start which was built upon in the middle of the innings by skipper Zahid Saeed (51) and Shahzad Mahmood, who struck two fours and two sixes as he raced to 39 from 32 balls.

Matt Bullock and Steve Emson weighed in with 12 each before rain ended proceedings.

It was an unhappy weekend for Eastnor who suffered a five-wicket defeat at Worcester on Saturday after being dismissed for 171.

And the rain left Monday's game at home to Astwood Bank intriguingly poised when the conclusion game.

The visitors had been dismissed for 148 with Faisal taking 4-52 and Eastnor were 35-2 in reply when the skies opened.
