LEDBURY have hit top spot in Division 2 of the Flint & Cook Marches League but were made to fight all the way before notching a three-run success at Woolhope.

Ledbury were all out for 131 batting first but the villagers fell just short despite 55 from Will Green.

There was a tight finish at Goodrich where the home club's second team went down by one-wicket to Colwall 3rd.

Only Dennis Malley (48) showed much form with the bat as Goodrich were dismissed for 132 but Colwall also found runs hard to come by with Alan Bradshaw launching a six to secure their win with only two balls to spare.

Peter Gale was in good touch with the bat for Marden, stroking 76 as the villagers piled up 234-7 at home to Bartestree & Lugwardine 2nd.

Sam Pratley (50) also contributed a half-century before Rupert Lawrence took over with his spell of 6-22 skittling the visitors out for just 80.

Glangrwyney bounced back after their defeat the previous week with a 98-run success against Moccas.

The Welshmen were restricted to 151-9 from their 45 overs but Moccas fared even worse in their reply to be dismissed for just 53.

Top score of the day came in Division 3 where Bosbury's Matt Williams lashed the Luctonians 3rd attack for five sixes and 14 fours before being caught from the final ball of the innings for 141.

The villagers amassed 262-6 and then Mark Wadley ran through the Luctonians reply with 5-16 to lead his side to a 170-run success.

There was another centurion in Division 4 where Lads Club's Mark Cathcart took his average for the season to 360 with an unbeaten 129 against Almeley.

But Cathcart had to share top billing with Chris Evans whose 5-23 included a hat-trick as Almeley succumbed to a 95-run defeat.
