KINGTON continue to struggle at the foot of the Birmingham League Division 3 after suffering a four-wicket home defeat against Whitchurch.

Only Ben Stebbings was able to make any headway for the home side after they had been invited to bat first and the teenager battled his way to 64 before being the final man out to Aqsad Ali (6-28).

Only Dave Exall, who made 11, made it into double figures apart from Stebbings as Kington subsided to 136 all out with Amjaad Ali Khan (3-72) doing the rest of the damage.

Whitchurch never found the going easy in reply as the Kington seamers Dharshana Gamage (0-37), Kevin Gwynne (2-38) and Adam Herbert (1-11) made them fight all the way.

Owen Price (1-37) also picked up a wicket but Whitchurch reached their victory target for the loss of six after 42 overs.

Kington 2nd picked up another welcome win when they defeated Aston Manor by eight wickets.

Ben George (4-35), Owen Morgan (3-6) and Rob Goodman (2-18) all bowled well as the home side were dismissed for 133.

Then Chris Powell, with an unbeaten 64, assisted by Barrett Price (31) and Rhys Price (19) eased the border club to their success.
