Spinners Charlie Griffiths and Mike King took seven wickets between them to steer Colwall to a 72-run win at bottom club Martley which keeps them in touch with the leading pack in the Crusader Worcestershire County League Division 3.

Colwall batted first after winning the toss but were bowled out in the final over for 172 on a rain-affected pitch. The spinners were soon bowling in tandem, and dismissed the home side for 100 in the 41st over.

Tim Riley (41) and Dave Powell (18) gave Colwall a solid start against the opening bowlers.

Bashford was introduced into the attack and exploited the wet conditions.

He exerted pressure and, as well as taking 2-28 off 17 overs, contributed towards the flurry of wickets at the other end, Ganderton finishing with 5-76.

Tom Wolfendale (20), Pete Butler (31) and Luke Ledbury (20) were the major contributors to the modest total.

After a comfortable start against the new ball, the runs dried up when Griffiths and King joined forces, only Bibby (35) threatened to test the target. After he was dismissed, Martley attempted to play out time. A quick single leading to a run-out broke the deadlock, and the win was achieved soon after. Griffiths finished with 4-33 and King, 3-25.

Canon Frome continue to find the going tough in Division 4 South and were beaten by seven wickets by visiting Himbleton.

Only Andy Lloyd and Kit Smith, who each scored 25 in a stand of 55 for the seventh wicket, were able to pass 20 for the home side who were bowled out for a disappointing 133.

Himbleton took just 21 overs to reach their victory target with J Critchlow cracking nine fours and three sixes in his unbeaten 70.

Ross just managed to hold on for a draw at Tenbury Wells where their score at the close stood at 207 with the last pair together in reply to the home side's 234-7.

Tom Boden made 101 for Tenbury and then followed up with 3-58 in a fine all-round performance.
