HEREFORDSHIRE'S Andy Burton and co-driver Shelley Rogerson won the Severn Valley National Rally in their Peugeot Cosworth.
In spite of encountering mid-event brake problems, they held on to their lead through to the finish at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells.
The competition was so hot that, after 70 miles of special stages in the mid Wales forests timed to one-tenth-of-a-second, runners-up Marcus Dodd and Andrew Bargery (Hyundai Accent WRC) were just 4.5 seconds adrift.
Steve Perez took third place in his Ford Focus WRC to maintain his lead in the Hankook MSA Gravel Rally Championship, of which the Severn Valley was the fourth round.
