KINGTON saw a dramatic turnaround in their fortunes when they travelled to third-placed Coleshill and returned home with a three-wicket win, their first of the season in Division 3 of the Birmingham and District Premier Cricket League.

In a low scoring game, Dharshana Gamage made a significant contribution with both bat and ball, taking 3-24 off 13 overs when Coleshill batted first and were bowled out for 121 in the 49th over, and then scored 40 with the bat, to set up victory.

Kington made a good start with three wickets to Gamage and a run out making early in-roads into the home batting line-up.

Number three Baker scored 33 but the rest of the middle order struggled against the off-spin of Owen Price who finished with 4-32 off 18 overs. The other two wickets were shared by Alan Butterworth and Adam Herbert, who took the last wicket to get rid of Bird (31).

When Kington batted, Chris Powell (25) and Tom Brierley (20) got a start but wickets were falling at regular intervals. Gamage came in at number six and put his side within sight of victory, striking four sixes in his 58-ball innings. Price (10), Butterworth (10 no) and skipper Duncan Morgan saw them over the line in the 38th over.

To complete a good day for the club, the second team hammered their Coleshill counterparts by 126 runs at the Recreation Ground, their third win in a row.

Six batsmen topped 25, with Owen Morgan (52 no) and Rhys Price (42) in front, when Kington batted first and scored 263-7 in their allotted overs.

Rob Goodman took 5-30 as Coleshill were bowled out for 137.
