WOOLHOPE are in a spell of losing tight games in Division 2 of the Flint and Cook Marches league, and Saturday was no different.

Chasing Marden's total of 218-8 they reached the final two balls requiring two to win, with the last pair together. They failed to score off the first, and then lost their final wicket to a run out, as they attempted to secure a tied result off the final ball. Ironically they had been called for a short run in the previous over.

Earlier Pete Richards and Mike Williams both reached half centuries for Marden, and Brian Weaver (jnr) had taken four wickets for the home team.

Nick Osborne hit an unbeaten 131 for Hereford City who went on to beat Goodrich 2nd by 92 runs at the Racecourse. Hereford scored 227-4 and then restricted the visitors to 135-6.

Paul Barnes featured with both bat and ball as Colwall 3rd picked up their second win, beating Bartestree & Lugwardine 2nd by four wickets at Ghost Meadow. He took 4-26 as the visitors were bowled out for 118, and then top-scored with 34.

No such luck for bottom side Moccas as Mark Ammonds (68) powered visiting Shobdon to a nine-wicket win, after the home side had been restricted to 174-8.
