SKIPPER John Andrews led his side from the front as table-toppers Garnons inflicted a massive 135-run defeat on home team Kington 3rd in Division 1 of the Flint and Cook Marches League.

He finished up on 151 not out when Garnons completed their innings on 321-7, receiving good support from Alan Jones (62) and Simon Withers (20). David Gwynne (3-56) was the pick of the bowlers.

Jim Lewis (41), Wayne Morgan (35) and Joe Williams (28) all got starts when Kington responded but failed to make the big scores necessary to challenge the target. Ian Bannerman (5-48) and Andy Brace (3-14) did most of the damage as the home team were bowled out for 186, their second successive defeat.

Second-placed Builth Wells secured an even easier victory over visiting Leominster, knocking the runs off in 17 overs for the loss of one wicket after bowling their opponents out for just 115.

Leominster made a reasonable start after losing the toss. Dave Barrington (18), Nick Palmer (26) and Russell Palmer (20) propelled them to 64-2.The introduction of Rob Wall (5-20 off eight overs) sent the innings into free-fall and they were all out in the 29th over for 115. Chris Truelove and Maritz Booysen shared four wickets.

Russell Palmer and Richard Kemp each took an early wicket before Tim Richards (60) and Anthony Mead (33) polished the job off in double quick time.

Burghill and Tillington completed a third consecutive victory when they beat visiting Talgarth by 73 runs to move into mid-table.

Kingsley Morris (86) and Alex Hedges (99) enjoyed a second wicket stand of 164 and then Tim Walsh added 32 quick runs at the back end of the innings as Burghill compiled a huge total of 285-6.

After Mike Pledge ousted the two openers, including Ewan Cardwell (51), Talgarth were content just to bat out time. Dias (75) batted solidly until a late flurry of wickets left the visitors on 212-5 at the close. Mark Preece (2-10) enjoyed late success.

Bartestree and Lugwardine bowled Llandrindod Wells out for just 82 to complete an easy 150-run home win after scoring 232-5 in the first innings.

Russell Barnett (79 no) led the way when the home side batted first. He received good support from Matt Aubrey (40) and Jack Blankley (34). Scott Tippins (5-21) ripped through the Spa side's batting, only one player reaching double figures.

Goodrich bowled visiting Crickhowell out for 114 to win by 136-runs after making 250 batting first.
