ACE marksman James Bevis has netted the biggest win of his career after carrying off the 2007 British Disability Target Shooting Association Wheel Power National Championship at Stoke Mandeville.

Bevis had no problems getting used to his new gun, provided by sponsors Hereford Land- Rover just eight days ago, as he picked up two gold medals.

In the air rifle standing competition, Bevis recorded 590 and 592 out of 600 in the two rounds, totalling 1182 to take the top prize by 21 points from his nearest rival A Fontain.

The Herefordshire man was even more impressive in the air rifle prone competition, dropping just seven points as he returned 596 and 597 out of 600 for a total of 1193.

This earned him the title by another wide margin, this time 17 points, from K Hughes.

Bevis' next challenge is the European Open Championships in Germany in July and the entry has already topped the 300 mark.
