MONMOUTH fast bowler Max Harris snapped up seven wickets to lead his club's second eleven to an emphatic 120-run home win over their Luctonians counterparts in Division 2 of the Crusader Worcester-shire League.

Playing his first game of the season for the club, the Nottingham University student clean bowled six of his victims and finished with 7-44 as the visitors were sent packing for 80, after Monmouth had scored 200-8 in the first innings.

He received good support from veteran Idris Leonard (3-30).

Four batsmen reached double figures for Luctonians, including 71-year-old Cliff Davis (15).

Earlier in the day Rob Prewett (48), Dan Macdonald (31), Steve Morgan (27 no) and Jag Saran (22) had helped the home side post a match-winning total when they batted first.

Mark Lowden (3-30) was the most successful bowler for Luctonians.

All the other games in the division, including Oldswinford v Wormelow, were rained off.

Ross 2nd slumped to an eight-wicket defeat at home to Birlingham in Division 4 South after being bowled out for 86.

Ross struggled with the bat after Andrew Stacey (35) and Tony Leslie (16) were parted at 63-2 by veteran John Sheppard, who went on to take 4-19 off 10 overs. No other batsman reached double figures as the home team were dismissed in the 37th over, the last nine wickets going down for 23 runs, including four at 68.

Nick Tregaskes dismissed Sheppard early on and, with Clive Jones, made Birlingham fight for the runs. Yeomans (33) fell to Harrington, but with Mark Boskett (42 no) looking solid the visitors cruised home in 30 overs.
