MOVE over Chelsea and Manchester United, for a junior team in the Welsh borders has just claimed a double with a difference.

Hay Junior Football Club's under 11s side has just completed a tremendous season in which they won the league, a cup competition and reached a further two finals.

They were recently crowned champions of the 2006/07 U11s South Powys League and finished their campaign with a resounding 7-0 win against Sennybridge. During the run-in they also beat title hopefuls Builth Wells and Crickhowell in consecutive games and only tasted defeat twice all season.

Hay JFC's remarkable season almost mirrors that of the senior side who went the entire campaign undefeated.

However, JFC took their excellent league form into several end-of-season cups, and nearly ended up with a barrage of silverware.

They entered two sides to compete at the Sennybridge Tournament - Hay Town and Utd who met in the semi-finals. The latter just about had the edge but they went down in a penalty shoot-out after contesting a thrilling final against Builth.

More final agony was to follow in the Knighton Cup where they lost 5-1 to the hosts, but it was a case of third time lucky for Hay as they won 1-0 against Crickhowell in the Brecon Corries Cup Final.

Hay JFC have had good support all season from their fans and sponsors, especially the Black Mountains Lions Club who provided their new kit.
