HEREFORD Municipal Club handicap secretary Shaun Vivian's latest competition success led to the official having to adjust his own ranking.

Vivian won the inaugural Tyne Trophy with 44 stableford points, 12 coming from the three gross birdies on his card, and his handicap was cut from 16 to 14.

Six-handicapper Rob Pugh was also cut a shot after finishing a superb second with 42 points, while Manu Bonnel was third with 40 off a 26 handicap and Dean Samuel, 16, fourth on 39.

Ross-on-Wye A team began the defence of their inter-club league title in convincing fashion with a whitewash win over Evesham.

Ross B team suffered a 3-2 home defeat to Robin Hood from Solihull.

Martin Brain was the winner with 37 points when 24 members of the Three Counties Society contested their fourth outing of the season at the Burnham and Berrow seaside links course which provided a stern test of golf.

The Wayfarers team for 10-17 handicappers recovered from a first-round 3-1 cup defeat at home to St Athan with two league wins, both at home. They beat Morlais Castle 4-1 and Tredegar & Rhymney 4-. But they then lost 3-1 at Newport before halving at Greenmeadow.

The Halletts team for 18-plus handicappers gained their first win by beating Blackwood 3-1 at home after a 3-1 defeat at Peterstone Lakes.

The Seniors lost 3-1 in a friendly at Belmont.
