PROFESSIONAL darts player Jim Williams says he won't take Tony O'Shea lightly as he begins his 2017 BDO World Darts Championship campaign at Lakeside this Saturday.

Williams, who is from Shobdon, beat the experienced O'Shea 3-0 in the first round last year before coming unstuck against Wesley Harms in the next round after leading 2-0.

"On form I should beat him, but it's a tough draw," said Williams.

"It's been a busy couple of weeks for me and I've been playing a lot at home, doing a few local tournaments.

"This is the first year that I've been able to get some good practice sessions n before the tournament.

"I should face Jamie Hughes in the next round so if I get past him, then hopefully I will have a good run."

The first round match will be live on BT Sport 1 from 10pm.

* Jim Williams has also gazed into his crystal ball to predict what will happen in the world of sport this year.

The Welshman believes Swansea, Middlesbrough and Hull will be the three teams relegated from the Premier League, Wales will win the RBS Six Nations, Lewis Hamilton will get his hands on the Formula 1 drivers' championship, Andy Murray will retain his Wimbledon crown and Australia will be the ICC Champions Trophy kings.
