HEREFORD Boxing Academy coach Ian Stevens said he was delighted with how his club's charity dinner show went.
A sell-out crowd at The Counties Show saw seven entertaining bouts, with £1,200 raised for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
"It was a complete success and we made a sum that was more than we anticipated for our worthy charity," said Stevens.
"None of the boxers got seriously hurt and to seal the evening, one of the officials said it was one of the best match shows he had attended for a while."
Cameron Heggie picked up the Faye Ford Memorial Shield for best Hereford club boxer, as well as the best bout of the evening.
Heggie beat Droitwich's Jonathan Martin thanks to a unanimous points decision after a series of attacking combinations in the second and third rounds.
The award for best runner-up bout of the evening went to Tom Beech.
The Hereford boxer may have lost to Tyron Jameson on a split decision, but he came away proud of his performance.
"This was by far the hardest bout of the evening to score and the officials had their work cut out," said Stevens.
Callum Blackwell opened the show with a junior contest against Bell Green's McKenzie Pollock and both boxers gave it their all.
However, it was Pollock who was awarded the win by a split decision.
Steve Phillips was up next for his debut outing against Liam Jordan.
A heavy punch from Wildstar ABC's Jordan at the end of the first round was the turning point in the match, and despite recovering to fight the second round, more combinations from Jordan led to the referee stopping the contest.
One of the loudest cheers of the night went to Hereford's Scott Greenhill, who beat Harpreet Kang by unanimous, but Joe Donovan lost to Waqas Ali by split decision, despite many people feeling the Hereford boxer did enough to win.
The final bout of the evening saw Lydney's Farrell Jobson seeing off Costy Racium.
The evening also saw Hereford boxer Dean Evans, Lydeny's Chris Higgs and Ben Vaughan parading their respective belts.
Hereford Boxing Academy's next dinner show will be on Friday, November 3, again at the Three Counties Hotel.
