A RIDER from Presteigne has set her fingers crossed that she's done enough to impress the selectors ahead of next year's World Equestrian Games.

Franky Reid-Warrilow was the top performing British rider at the Nations Cup in Waregem, Belgium, which followed on the back of other good performances.

"It is always such an honour to ride for my country, and coming away as best placed Brit is a fantastic feeling," said Reid-Warrilow.

"I’m having an amazing time riding this wave but fingers crossed the best is yet to come."

Following a perfect dressage test, which split the judges, Reid-Warrilow and her top mare Dolley Whisper had an unlucky four faults in the show jumping, them them in seventh place going in to the cross-country phase.

No strangers to riding under pressure, the pair flew round a difficult track to earn sixth spot, pushing the team up the podium to clinch a silver medal in a strong international field of 92 riders.

Reid-Warrilow and Dolley Whisper have this season added top 12 places at some of the most notorious international events on the circuit to their roster, including Hartpury Horse Trials, and the Event Rider Masters at Blair Castle, Bramham and Belton.

And these accolades were achieved after Reid-Warrilow suffered a serious injury following a fall when was a youngster, resulting in a broken collarbone and six weeks out of action.

Her ultimate dream is to compete at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics and is always on the look out for horses with the potential for reaching this goal.
