A HEREFORD teenager has been crowned the new European Junior Brazilian Jiu Jitsu champion.
Liberty Miles only took up the sport in October 2016 and entered her first competition three months ago.
But despite competing against a girl from a heavier class and grade at the Fight Like a Girl Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships in Birmingham,, the Hereford Cathedral School pupil was victorious and was presented with her gold medal by Master Mauricio Gomez.
"We are all extremely proud of Liberty, especially as it was her very first contest and she is completely ungraded in the sport," said Liberty's father.
Liberty - who trains at The Combat Academy and fights in the under-50kg category - has also recently scooped gold in the Cheltenham Open Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships, fighting against a girl with several more years experience and a 10 pound weight advantage.
Next year, she will train for the World Championships in July and is seeking sponsorship to compete in international competitions.
