EVEN a broken ankle couldn't stop local rider Jan Howells picking up second prize nationally at the prestigious 46th Welsh Pony and Cob Society (WPCS) performance awards, which had record entries from all over the UK.
Howells and her horse 'Longhope Millicent Two Socks' also came in sixth place national WPCS Eventing League.
Howells said she couldn’t have done it without her mother who had been 'an amazing' chief groom and supporter throughout the season.
“We can't believe we've achieved national recognition," said Howells.
"I nearly lost Socks a couple of years ago, but against all odds she pulled through. She is an extraordinary mare and we have been on an incredible journey and hopefully there is more to come."
Howells is an active member of the local Vale of Arrow riding club qualifying for the Riding Club National Showjumping Championships this year at Arena UK in Lincolnshire- and qualifying again for 2019.
