AN AFTERNOON of high-speed action is promised when Ledbury Motorcycle Grass-Track Racing Club hold their opening meeting of 2019 on Sunday.
Sparrington Farm in Pencombe is hosting the event which has attracted 174 riders from across the country.
The entry list includes some 31 local based competitors from Herefordshire, Worcestershire, Shropshire and Gloucestershire along with eight current British Champions.
Grass-track racing takes place on a flat, oval shaped circuit with riders on specially adapted bikes reaching speeds of up to 70 miles per four.
Riders dressed in multi-coloured protective motorcycle clothing contest each race over a quick four-lap duration.
There is also classes for the 500cc and very fast 1000cc sidecars, which is a true spectacle in itself.
With a mammoth total of some 71 races in the programme, Sunday’s action will get underway at 12.30pm.
For satnav users the area code for the event is HR7 4SL with admission charges of £12 adults, £10 concessions and under-16s go free.
