PEGASUS Juniors have started work on their new 3G pitch and hope to build a squad capable of challenging for promotion next season.
Work started at Old School Lane this week to install the new surface which is due to be completed in early September.
Mick Panniers will be joined in the dug-out this season by joint manager Dave Cadwallader and the pair are currently putting a team together to challenge in the Hellenic League Division One West.
"We are basically looking at a massive over-haul players wise and we hope to keep the better ones from last season," said Panniers.
"We have already got quite a few decent signings on paper. It is looking a more exciting squad and with four promotion positions hopefully we can be in amongst that.
"If we get the players we want then people will be surprised of the squad we do get this year.
"We can't really say until we get the players over the line but it looks a lot brighter than last year and the year before."
Panniers hopes that his side can use the 3G surface to their advantage in the coming season.
"I think the pitch should improve us and will be a significant advantage once we are up and running," he added.
"You have got to play football on it and the young lads are used to it. We want to play football and don't want to get bullied.
"We will be signing stronger lads but we won't find that same physicality in the Hellenic League.
"We will be asking the league to play our first home game at the end of September which will give us a few weeks of training and friendlies to get used to it ourselves.
"We are also looking at booking a 3G pitch during pre-season to get the feel of it as it does make a massive difference to the type of football you play.
"That's one thing that will be interesting is the need to change our style of play at home and away when the pitches aren't as good. The style of play will depend on that."
